A few weekends ago, I visited Dulwich Picture Gallery to see Tom Thomson and the Group of Seven . What a stunning visual display of paintings and sketches illuminating the sensational landscapes of Canada, around Ontario, where the group were based. Tom Thomson was, for me, the most visually exhilerating, a true natural talent and the most perfect colourist. The show was breathtaking, with most of the artists working sketches on the spot before returning to paint the final canvas or board, in the studio. The sketches were often even more scintillating than their larger final works, and shone like jewels...This is certainly a show to visit, if you love landscape and colour..

"Above all elements Canadian, these are painters who knew how to handle paint and colour, and how to turn a small sketch executed on the spot into a high-pitched studio masterpiece." - Brian Sewell
These images below are from two recent panel commissions for private homes, one representing the watery landscape and the other more pastoral.
